Afenifere Chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has said that the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and the police should be blamed for the spate of political violence being witnessed in the State.

Adeyeye, who called on President Goodluck Jonathan and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Abubakar to save Ekiti people from Fayemi and his killer squad led by one Deji Adesokan (Jaruu), said; "Our State is getting closer to a state of anarchy and urgent steps must be taking to prevent a total breakdown of law and order in the State."

Reacting to the mayhem in which four persons were shot in Iyin-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government area of Ekiti State today, Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Hon. Bisi Kolawole said; "what happened could have been averted if the police had not allowed Deji Adesokan and his gang of killers to be perpetrating crimes in the State unchallenged."

He said; "On many occasions, this same Deji Adesokan, who is the cause of the Iyin-Ekiti mayhem had led violent attacks on PDP supporters and supporters of the Hon Michael Opeyemi Bamidele faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) with the police looking the other way.

"Even a court in Ado-Ekiti had described Deji Adesokan as tyrant while also awarding N1 million damages against him in a case of assault against an Ado-Ekiti Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) official, Mr. Idowu Brown.

"In spite of his atrocities, Fayemi has not deemed it necessary to sanction him and the police has not for once questioned him.

"Today, we are yet to see those who killed Adeleye Awolumate, Ayo Murphy Jeje and Juliana Adewumi face the consequences of their criminal act.

"In a situation where people in government are allowed to unleash violence on the people with impunity, what will g is the people rising in their own defence and such a situation is what we are witnessing in the State now.

"Therefore, the president and IGP should please in the name of God save Ekiti State from this impending catastrophe by bringing those being used by the State Government to unleash terror on innocent Ekiti sons and daughters to book."
