Ekiti Ex-Senator, Arise hails Jonathan Over Lagos-Ibadan Road Reconstruction

A former senator, who represented Ekiti North, Ayo Arise, has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for the commencement of reconstruction and expansion works on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, describing the project as "one of the life changing transformational efforts of the President Jonathan administration."

Speaking with reporters in Ado-Ekiti, today, Arise noted that reconstruction and expansion of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, which is no doubt the busiest road in the country will relieved Nigerians the agony associated with plying the road.

The former senator said the road, having been used for 35 years since it was commissioned in 1978 deserve to be reconstructed and saluted President Jonathan for contracting the project to construction giants like Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and Reynolds Construction Company Limited.

He appealed to motorists to bear the pains that will be associated with the reconstruction and expansion works, saying he was sure that the job will be completed as scheduled.

“Honestly, this is a feat that must be commended because that road is too important to the economic and social well-being of Nigeria and its people.

"Approximately, vehicles plying the road daily cannot be less than 3000,000. It is the first expressway to be constructed in the country and such a road, on which the nation's economy is centered deserve all the attention it can get," Arise said.
