...Amaechi Faction to Boycott Meeting
ABUJA, June 16, (THEWILL) – As the controversy rocking the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) continues, the faction of Forum led by the Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang, on Sunday, insisted that it would hold the Forum's meeting on Monday.

The meeting was called to deliberate on the lingering disagreement over the Excess Crude Account and Federation Account.

The thorny issue even culminated in a walk-out by state commissioners of finance from a meeting organised by the Ministry of Finance in Abuja last week.

The problem notwithstanding, the faction led by the Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, swiftly announced that it would not attend the meeting so long as it was summoned by Jang.

The pro-Amaechi governors, it was learnt, would rather prefer to head straight to the presidential villa to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.

This came as the Jang-led faction also announced that the governors would at the end of the meeting proceed to the presidential villa to confer with Jonathan.

It was however not confirmed last night if the pro-Ameachi governors would meet ahead of the meeting with Jonathan.

An attempt to contact the director general of the NGF, Dr Asishana Okauru proved abortive as several calls made to his telephone did not go through.

But the sole administrator of the forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, disclosed that they are prepared to host the governors. A visit to the Jang-led secretariat to ascertain the state of activities ahead of the meeting, indicated that the faction was preparing for the event.
