SAN FRANCISCO, June 03, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it is not in any way afraid of the coalition of opposition parties in the country as it described the leaders of the opposition as wolves parading themselves as saviours.

Maintaining that ”the barking of 20 dogs can never scare an elephant,” PDP said in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Monday, that “these frustrated tribal cum religious associations can never be equated to a national party,” stressing that they have nothing to offer Nigerians.

Reacting to a statement it described as a vicious attack on the PDP, which it said was allegedly sponsored by the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Metuh said the statement “is a mere cover-up for the divisions, quarreling and dissensions that marred their meeting today (Monday) in Abuja.”

According to the Metuh, “Instead of unnecessarily attacking the PDP, the ACN and its co-traveller, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) should be bold

enough to tell Nigerians the outcome of their meeting where their members were sharply divided over comments by their leader, General Muhammadu Buhari condemning the decision by the Federal Government to root out insurgency in the country and describing it as an attack on the north.”

The PDP statement however noted that “Many of their members have now realised that they are in the wrong boat captained by insensitive religious and tribal bigots,” adding ”This can only vindicate the PDP which has continued to caution Nigerians against being deceived by wolves parading themselves as saviours.”
