FCT MINISTER DONATES BUS FOR GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL

In fulfillment of its pledge to promote the development of grassroots sports across nation capital and its environ, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration has donated a brand new 18-seater Toyota Coaster Bus to Abuja based soccer academy, Green Horse Football Academy.

Minister of State, FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide while on inspection tour of sport facilities in the FCT fulfilled the pledge earlier made to support any football academy in territory which has genuine programme of developing young talents for the gain of the FCT.

The minister, while making the car presentation at the weekend at the front of her office in the FCDA Secretariat, Area 11, said the donation was in line with the vision of FCT's administration to develop grassroots sports. She said Green Horse Football Academy was chosen out of thousand football academies in the FCT because of its commitment to youth development and laudable programmes. 'This is part of our strategy to encourage youths, particularly those involved in sports. I want to tell you that we decided to donate a bus to Green Horse Football Academy because of the good work they are doing. They did not ask us for it. We sent our men out there to carry out assessment of all youth clubs in the FCT and in their report we discovered that coach Bala is doing a wonderful job. When we approached him to know how we can assist him, he said he needed a bus to move the boys around for their programmes. That is why we decided to encourage him with the vehicle which will assist him to convey his team for training and other events,' he said.

She denied speculation that the team is her personal pet project, instead, she called other on youth soccer academies in the territory to strive to make effective contributions to the development of the nation.
