The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice-Chairman (South-West), Chief Segun Oni has hailed the conferment of University of Lagos (UNILAG) Honorary Doctor of Letters degree on legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola, describing the award as "a honour well deserved."

Oni, who described Aare Afe Babalola as worthy of every honour bestowed on him by the UNILAG authority and Nigeria as a country said; "Baba is a pride to us in Ekiti. He is an icon whose life is a source of inspiration to us and no honour will be too much for such an icon and statesman."

In a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Lere Olayinka, the PDP National Vice-Chairman said; "Baba Afe's contributions to the development of UNILAG when he was Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council and even now, are unquantifiable.

"He laid solid foundation and provided the roadmap for the present enviable ranking of the university as the best in Nigeria and 16th in Africa.

"Today, Baba's footprints on the sands of UNILAG are still visible.

"One is therefore happy that those remarkable achievements he made, especially in the area of providing alternative income generation for the university and restoring values on the academia have been rewarded by the university authority with a prestigious award of this honourary doctorate degree."
