GLO SOCCER: OROGBUM COMMUNITY WELCOMES PRINCEWILL

Speaking at the reception organised to receive Princewill, the Chairman of Orogbum community council, Comrade Kenneth Ugbonda expressed joy that one of the sons of Orogbum was among the 33 players picked out of over 7,000 youths screened in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin for the Academy.

According to him: 'It's a privilege for this community to be represented at the Glo Soccer Academy and we are quite optimistic that Princewill will make the best use of the knowledge he gained at the academy.'

Chief Ogbonda said that Princewill is a hero in the community and he predicted that he will go far in the round leather game in the future. He thanked Globacom for setting up the academy which according to him will produce future footballers for Nigeria.

Speaking at the occasion, Globacom Divisional Director, South South, Mr. Sam Edoho commended Princewill for conducting himself very well at the academy. He assured him that his exit is not the end, adding that different club scouts may soon be making enquiries from the academy about players and he may be lucky to be one of them. He also commended the Orogbum community for coming out en-masse to honour one of their own. Edoho later presented the Glo Soccer Academy certificate to Princewill amidst standing ovation by the Orogbum youths who came out in large number.

Five players were evicted from the academy during the first eviction exercise. Sixteen finalists will emerge at the end of the exercise and they will go on a training tour of the Manchester United Soccer Schools in Carrington, England as well as enjoy the G-Bam Scholarship of N750,000 each as part of the prizes. In addition, one of the boys who emerges as the Most Valuable Player will earn N5 million, while the remaining 15 will go home with N1 million each.
