The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Chief Chuka Odom yesterday warned the Chinese not to turn Nigeria to a dump site of goods but to invest in the country.

He gave this warning in Abuja when Shandong Province Vice Governor Wang Junmin who was on a walking visit to Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit.

The Minister appealed to them to build companies in Nigeria as a way of creating employment, adding that Nigerian government would be happy to partner if the Chinese government is ready to establish businesses in the country.

According to him, building companies and employing Nigerians will give the country an opportunity to advance its technology noting that with such opportunity the country would not be a dump site.

He observed that most ministries are littered with dead machines, tractors among other equipments because the country lacks the technical knowhow to manufacture the spare parts that would bring them back to life.

“If you go to India, their machines are manufactured in that country and that is the reason why they are moving very fast in their industry, agriculture and so on” the Minister noted.

Chief Odom however stated that the federal government has started looking towards the direction of bringing the country to limelight technologically, in order to advance the country industries and agriculture.

The visiting Shandong vice Governor Wang Junmin whose province population was about 97 million people, more than half of Nigerian population told the Minister of State that Nigeria would be a good partner for the advancement of agricultural technology.
