DTHA To Partner FRSC On Accident Prevention

SAN FRANCISCO, September 11, (THEWILL) - The Delta Legislature has assured the Delta State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps of mutual partnership in the execution of the Child Accident Prevention Initiative (CAPI) in the state.


Speaker of the state legislature, Rt Hon Victor Ochei FNSE, made the commitment when the new sector commander; Susan Ada Ajenge paid him a courtesy visit in his office, to unfold the details of the programme, which she said, would go a long way in reducing the infant accident mortality rate in the state.


According to him, the assurance stemmed from his belief in supporting life enhancing programmes that are in tandem with the three point agenda of the state government, adding that the Child Accident Prevention Initiative of the corps qualifies as one.


Hon Ochei further stated that the legislature as the true representatives of the polity, will fashion out modalities for pilot schemes across the three senatorial zones in the state.


He also commended the body for the initiative which is a welcome development in strengthening the public private partnership approach to issues pertaining to societal development.


Earlier, the project consultant, Elder Akujobi had urged administrative machinery in Delta state to key into this programme through sponsorship and endorsement, stressing that the reduction of child accident mortality rate amongst pupils and students, is among others, the major dividend of the programme, which had been launched in Lagos and Ogun states as well as The Federal Capital Territory.


In her speech, the Delta state corps commander, Susan Ajenge expressed gratitude to the Speaker and the entire legislature for the gesture which will expectedly yield the desired result of ensuring safety for school children in the state.
