UP IN FLAMES

By Adeola Ikuomola

I crept into the dark orchard
Under the O. C's bloody eyeballs
I struck a match and looked away
The case file went up in flames

I went into the thick courtroom
Armed with a foreign case file
The judge sentenced him to death
And his dreams went up in flames

I went to witness his execution
And saw him dangling in the gallows
His corpse laughed at my folly
And my conscience went up in flames

I came across the devilish O.C
Counting the blood-generated silver
In the forest of violated cans of opium
And his late heart was up in flames
