EARC 13th General Assembly Meeting 2012

ARUSHA, Tanzania, August 27, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Media Briefing on the outcome on EARC 13th General Assembly Meeting 2012

What: East African Sub-Regional Network (EARN) 13th General Assembly Meeting 2012

Who: Eastern Africa Roll Back Malaria Network (RBM-EARN)

When: 3-7 September 2012

Where: Naura Springs hotel Arusha, Tanzania

RBM-EARN is conducting its thirteenth General Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania to review the implementation of the current partnership work plan, countries' roadmaps (Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Comoros, Tanzania, Uganda and Yemen) and discuss malaria issues under the banner of Malaria Control for Sustainable Development in Eastern Africa. The forum will provide an opportunity to identify bottlenecks and hindrances that can prevent countries to achieve their established goals.

The theme for World Malaria day 2012 is “Sustain Gains, Save Lives: Invest in Malaria” and it reflects a relatively successful decade of malaria investments that resulted in a substantial reduction of malaria morbidity and mortality in many countries including those of Eastern Africa.

Most of the countries in Eastern Africa were part and parcel of successes made against malaria worldwide when measuring up against the 2010 targets. These countries are now getting ready to tackle the 2012 goals of near zero deaths through a successful implementation of their malaria roadmaps by very vibrant partnerships within countries and across the region.

The EARN coordinating Team is inviting you to Arusha to participate and cover the meeting.
