Okpe Union calls emergency talks as its leaders meet

Following the neglect of Okpe Kingdom by the Delta State government continues, Okpe leaders are considering on how best taking on some officials of the government on abandoned projects in the kingdom.


An online Press Statement by Mr Henry Ebireri, the Secretary General of the Union, informed that the leaders are due to meet in the Okpe Union headquarters on Sunday, August 26, 2012 to debate the state of development in the kingdom.


According to him, the leaders are expected to discuss the issue of abandoned Sapele Market, uncompleted Sapele Stadium, burnt Orodje Market and Sapele Polytechnic project, emphasizing that the leaders are working together on detailed plans to address the challenges of the kingdom.


On the agenda for leaders attending the meeting in Lagos, Ebireri said the abandoned Okuodede- Ugborhen road; flood occasioned by downpour in Sapele, return of public schools in Okpe land to missions and poor roads in Okpe kingdom would also be discussed.


"Our number-one goal is to address the poor state of development in Okpe kingdom. We have very important responsibilities and roles to play so we are going to be setting up a working group to monitor contractors in-charge of projects in Okpe kingdom." Ebireri said.
