Italy - Egypt: Terzi in Cairo - First official meeting with President Morsi

ROME, Italy, July 26, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- With the intention of further strengthening Italy's already intense relations with Egypt, Minister Giulio Terzi is to meet in Cairo, for the first time officially, with President Mohammed Morsi, the first civilian head of state to be elected after a long electoral campaign, one of the most delicate moments of a transition process that is still under way. There is no lack of difficulties on the political front, which are having an impact on the general framework of uncertainty of a country whose economic picture also continues to show signs of disturbing fragility. All this within a regional context in which the Syrian crisis gains alarming intensity, and while direct negotiations in the Middle East peace process remain stalled. Minister Terzi will also be meeting with Marshall Tantawi.
