ACN Welcomes RSHA Report On Ahoada East Council Chairman

By RiversACN

The Rivers State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has welcomed the report of massive looting of council funds against the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Council, Cassidy Ikegbidi presented by the committee of the Rivers State House of Assembly that probed the allegation.

The Party in a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by the Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam, while reacting to the publication of the report, commended the Rivers State House of Assembly for acting upon public outcry that prompted the release of the report, following accusation of inducement against the committee.

Jerry Needam said even though to lay the report on the floor of the Assembly for debate, was long overdue, the belated release goes a long way to proving that the lawmakers may have woken from their slumber to be alive to their oversight functions.

The party warned against attempt to politicize the monumental fraud against the Chairman of Ahaoda East local government council, Cassidy Ikigbidi.

ACN further alleges there are already surreptitious moves to find an escape route for the indicted chairman; that may have prompted postponement of debate on the report submitted.

The party also condemned attempts to dissolve the entire council on account of massive fraud against the chairman. This according to ACN amounts to concluding that all the elected members of the council are corrupt.

The ACN urged the Assembly to publicly identify corrupt members of the council, rather than a blanket assessment of everybody.

Total dissolution under the law, the ACN noted shall be seen as ill motivated, draconic and politically motivated.

The Action Congress of Nigeria said they are watching to see how the Rivers State House of Assembly will apply wisdom in this case to redeem their battered image and draw closer to Rivers people.
