PRESS RELEASE: Abia State

By Ugochukwu Emezue

The attention of the state government has been drawn to the unruly behavior of NULGE officials in some local government areas, who are making workers to resist the payment of salaries done through the Data capturing system.

Since government introduced this data capturing system, which is the trend all over, ghost workers have been fished out from the service, a situation that had saved government millions of naira, formerly pocketed by unpatriotic Abians, to the detriment of the state.

It is quite unfortunate that while government is plucking all loopholes to ensure that the revenue profile of the state improves to sustain the development strides being witnessed now, some people are bent on sabotaging government's efforts.

To this end government has directed that any local government that resists the data capturing exercise will forfeit its salary.

Local government workers are therefore advised to heed this directive, and ensure that they furnish their Council Authorities with their bank accounts details, as payment of salaries will be done through the banks.
