EDO GUBER: AIRHIAVBERE PROMISES TO REDUCE LEVY ON PRIVATE SCHOOLS

By NBF News

Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Maj. Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd) yesterday pledged to reduce government levy on private schools from between N255,000 and N455,000 to N30,000.

This is against the astronomical increase on the levy imposed on private schools by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) led administration in the state.

Speaking in an interactive session with members of the state chapter of the Association of Private Schools Owners of Nigeria (APSON) at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin City, Airhiavbere lamented a situation where private schools are grouped as profit making organisations under Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

'We'll form a government that will take the annual renewal rate which ACN led government increased from N30,000 to between N255,000 and N455,000,  back to same N30,000 which it was during the last PDP government in Edo State.'

While describing the educational service as social responsibility, he praised the private school owners for their contributions to job creation in the state.
