Exopa CEO For Court Today

The Chief Executive Officer of Exopa Modelling Agency, Sima Ibrahim, made a brief appearance at the Accra Fast Track High Court yesterday.

He is expected to re-appear this morning after hitches related to the filing of the necessary documents by the prosecution prevented the matter from being called.

After it became apparent that the case was not going to be called, counsel for the suspect, Mr Kwame Boafo Akuffo, enquired whether the docket on the matter was ready and if not, the matter should be fixed for today.

A State Attorney, Mr Kwadwo Ofori, told the court that the docket on the matter seemed to have been held up at the registry, and asked the investigators to speed up the process to have the matter called.

The suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of carrying five kilogrammes of a substance suspected to be cocaine which were concealed in four tubers of yam, is said to be facing provisional charges of attempted exportation of narcotics and possession of narcotics.

Ibrahim, 39, was arrested on September 7, 2009 at about 11 p.m. at the Kotoka International Airport while going through departure formalities to travel to Germany.

Scores of sympathisers and relatives, including students of Ibrahim's modelling agency, came to the court and many of them could not control their tears after he was whisked away by the police.
