BAUCHI IN TALKS WITH NAKURA ENERGY TO EXPLORE GAS

A private firm, Nakura Energy has shown interest to partner with the Bauchi State Government on the establishment of an proposed Independent Power Plant to generate about 33 megawatts of electricity.

State Energy Commissioner Barrister Yakubu Bello Kirfi stated this in Bauchi while feeding questions from newsmen shortly after receiving a submission from the company.

He said the company's proposal is based on the utilization of abundant Gas discovered in the state during oil exploration by Shell and Chevron at Kaloma in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.'

Kirfi said 'apart from proposal from Nakura energy , government received from a China based Company and another German Company that intend to use Solar energy in generating electricity, saying government is studying all the submissions.

Chairman of the Nakura Energy, Alhaji Ahmad Abubakar Nakura said when finally approved by the government, the company would use Gas discovered in the state to generate 33 megawatts of electricity to last for 50 years.

Nakura said the electricity to be generated in the project will be enough to satisfy Bauchi and neighboring states.
