OLYMPICS CONTESTANTS URGED TO ASPIRE FOR NOBEL PRIZE

The Director-General of the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Professor Sam Ale, has urged participants of the 2012 International Olympiads to aspire to become winners of Nobel Prize in mathematics as well as other science subjects in the future.

Represented by the Dean, School of Mathematical Studies at the NMC, Prof. Adewale Solarin, Ale spoke at the opening ceremony of the third edition of the ISO over in Abuja.  He said the competition which is the third edition holding in Nigeria, was an improvement over the previous editions considering the swell in number of participating countries and quality of questions.

On his part, Vice-Chancellor of the Nigerian Turkish Nile University, Prof. Bunyanmin Kaptanoglu, represented by Mr. Mahmut Girpici, challenged the participants to look beyond the International Scientific Olympiads and strive to make positive scientific contributions to make the world more peaceful.
