LAWMAKER TASKS OBASANJO ON STATESMANSHIP

By NBF News

Former President Obasanjo needs to learn how to be a good statesman by borrowing a leaf from former President Shehu Shagari or his former boss, General Yakubu Gowon, who are always working towards ensuring political stability and general development of the country,  the member representing Gwaram Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Yusuf Shittu Galambi said yesterday.

Reacting to comments credited to former president Obasanjo, where he described members of the National Assembly as robbers and rogues,  the lawmaker said rather than ask Nigerians for forgiveness over his poor leadership, 'he engaged in wild accusations and condemnation of people of good will who are now working day and night to correct his mistakes. Obasanjo insulted all Nigerians by condemning a respected institution like NASS. Whatever his reasons are, he should not have generalized the whole institution and those in it. Good leaders are always like fathers to their nations, whenever they talk, they should talk sense and make good points which can unite the nation, We must be cognizant of the fact that Nigeria is above any individual. We must unite to ensure the success of our development through good advice and respect of our different positions, not accusing each other with unnecessary comments'.
