Juaso (Ash), July 2, GNA- The increasing spate of indiscipline among the youth in society has been attributed to poor parenting.

Some senior citizens in the Asante Akim South District made the assertion during a get-together to mark Ghana's 49th Republic Day Anniversary at Juaso on Wednesday.

The get-together, which was organised by the District Assembly brought together over 60 senior citizens drawn from various parts of the district.

It was to celebrate their achievements and contributions to national development over the years and also share their experiences with the younger generation.

Most of the participants who took turns to share their experiences during an open forum bemoaned the high level of indiscipline in society and blamed parents for their negligence.

According to them, immorality was on the ascendancy and reminded parents of their responsibility to shield their children from bad influence from their peers.

Mr. De-graft Fokuo, District Chief Executive (DCE) entreated the senior citizens to place their experience at the disposal of the youth to help transform society.

He commended them for their service and dedication to the nation, adding that, their achievement was worth celebrating.

The DCE assured them that the Assembly would pursue policies that would promote the interest of the aged and urged them to rally behind government as it strived to improve the livelihood of Ghanaians.
