Am I Still A Virgin?

Dear Nana Ama,

I am in senior high school and in a relationship with a guy who completed SHS last year. We have been in this relationship for almost a year now and have engaged in various sexual activities although we have never had sexual intercourse.

Sometimes I feel so guilty about our relationship and feel like ending it but I simply don't know how to go about it. I would also want to know whether I am still a virgin or not.

I'm not sure I entirely understand what you refer to as sexual activities but a virgin is most commonly seen as a person who has not engaged in sexual intercourse. In a more strict sense, it is somebody who has not yet engaged in sexual activities.

If you are wondering whether some of your sexual activities may have broken your hymen, I'll recommend seeing a doctor.

For your second question about advice, I'll say do your best to stop doing anything that makes you feel bad afterwards because if you refuse to listen to your conscience, over time, it will stop speaking to you and that could be disastrous.

If you feel the sexual activities you are engaging in is bad, then it is. If you feel so guilty about your relationship and feel like ending it but don't know how to go about it, here's how to do it:

You could sit your boyfriend down and tell him how you feel about the sexual activities you are currently engaged in and ask that they cease. If he refuses to see eye to eye with you, you may decide to advice yourself.
