Bomb Explosion Rocks Catholic Church In Kano… Eight Confirmed Dead

Huhuonline.com /   understands that eight parishioners have so far been confirmed dead by the Police in Kano, following an explosion that rocked a Catholic Church inside the Bayero University, Kano. Our checks reveal that the explosion occurred while worshippers were observing the Sunday service.

It was learnt that gun fire followed the explosion as church members scampered to safety. Mr.Abubakar Jibril, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed that at least three explosions had struck the old campus of the university and neighboring areas.

  He stated that   sporadic gunfire was still ongoing. Jibril said rescue officials could not reach the site as an apparent terrorist attack was still underway.

 
Our correspondent reports that security agencies have been contacted and rescue efforts are underway.

Though no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram   is believed   to have carried out the attack.

Kano state police commissioner, Ibrahim K. Idris, said, his men are already after the attackers who are said to have escaped the scene after the act. He promised that arrests would soon be made.

The officiating cleric said he is in shock and unable to speak at the moment.He however, confirmed that there were casualties
