Okpe honours prominent indigenes
Some indigenes of Okpe kingdom who have excelled in their chosen careers and also contributed to the development of the Okpe nation, Okpe Union Worldwide as well as humanity will be honoured on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 by Okpe Union in Lagos.
A statement by the Secretary General of Okpe Union Worldwide, Mr. Henry Ebireri said members of the union would roll out drums to celebrate the achievements of some Okpe indigenes for their love for the actualization of the transformational agenda of the union and their positive ideas aimed at reforming and promoting the welfare and growth of the Okpe nation.
According to the statement, the 82ndanniversary of Okpe Union would afford members from within and outside the country the opportunity to count the blessings of the union since its inception in 1930, deliberate on the current situation in Nigeria, particularly Okpe kingdom and Delta State and project into a bright future for the kingdom and the union.
The anniversary, the statement added, would be an opportunity for some of the past executive members of Okpe Union Worldwide to return to Lagos and have a glimpse at the past of a union that they had at one time or the other directed its affairs.
