WORK PERMIT DELAYS NEW TECHNICAL DIRECTOR’S ASSUMPTION -NFF

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that the new National Technical Director (NTD), Tom Saintfiet, may resume duty next month if the federation finalises everything on his work permit and other logistics.

General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, who made the disclosure, while fielding questions from Daily Sunsports, said that the federation was doing everything humanly possible to make possible the resumption of the Belgian tactician next month.

'As I have repeatedly said, quite many things have to be put in place before Saintfeit would formally resume. We need to tidy up his contract, get a work permit for him, and I'm sure that by May, we should be able to sort out all these, so that he can resume,' he noted.

He also spoke on the home-based Eagles' loss to the Pharaohs of Egypt last week, stressing that the federation was not concerned about the final result, but on the rebuilding process of the team. 'I think the rebuilding process is truly underway and at this point, it is not the result of the match that is the most important. What should be our major concern in moving the project forward is the fact that we were able to get a match for the home-based Super Eagles and a very good team for that matter?

'The Egyptians were equally rebuilding after playing Uganda, Chad and now Nigeria. As far as we are concerned, it was another opportunity for the boys to come together to blend and get better. Of course, we are arranging more matches for them in the month of May before the World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifiers against Namibia, Malawi and the return leg against Rwanda in June.
