EASTER: ONI URGES FORGIVENESS, SELFLESSNESS

By Lere Olayinka

National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Segun Oni has urged Nigerians, especially members of the PDP in the six Southwest States to imbibe the spirit of selflessness and forgiveness, saying; “Jesus Christ he never held any grudge against those who crucified Him.

According to a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka, Oni, in his goodwill message on the occasion of the Easter celebration said; “Just as the Lord forgave those who lied against Him, may we have the grace to forgive all those who offend us.”

He said; “On this day, Jesus Christ paid the price we could never have paid. He gladly bore our reproach and died that we may live again.

“In doing all these, Jesus Christ suffered at his trial. He was scourged both on the road to the Cross and while on the Cross. Yet He never held any grudge against those who crucified him.”

“Therefore, the best that we can do to pay Him back for His love and kindness is to forgive those who wronged us and make peace with people around us.”

While congratulating Christians in the country for the successful completion of the fasting period and witnessing another Easter, Oni said; “It is our joy today that Christ reigns still. He died a voluntary death and suffered crucifixion as the Savior of the world.

He bore our sins in his body on the cross, but he died as a victorious Savior. In his voluntary death, he won the victory over sin, death and hell, and was raised to the newness of resurrection life on Easter morning. He died as our Savior, but he now lives as our Lord.

“It is therefore my prayer that because Jesus lives, Peace that is beyond all understanding shall not depart from our country, Nigeria, and our party, the PDP.”
