Miss Ghana Italy - Cindy Osei Kuffour
Miss Ghana Italy came on last saturday at Brescia,the Italian city with the highest number of Ghanaians. The show started at exactly 9pm with the introduction of the MC's for the night by Mr.Ato Vancliff. The mc's for the night were Kofi Osei Bonsu popularly known as Eddie da finest and Miss Naa Arku Glover Addo,who kicked off the show with the introduction of the contestants in their beautiful swim wears.
By the time the contestants came on stage, the auditorium in the center of the city where the program came on was full to capacity with estimations of 1000 plus people.
The girls entered one after the other with thunderous applause from the overexcited crowd that have gathered.Contestant number one was Miss Antonette Ama Aggyrey representing Verona, followed by Adjoa Kraba Annan (representing Brescia), Lina Oparebeah Manu (Modena), Linda Pecku Boateng (Lecco), Stella Dankwa (Modena), Linda Opoku Frimpomaa (Mantova), Cindy Osei Kuffour (Bergamo), Rachel Osei Baah Kokroko (Vicenza), Silvia Asare Adade (Mantova), Comfort Eshun (Reggio Emilia), Gifty Ofosua Boakye (Pordenone) and Bernice Akua Pebea Sakyia (Modena).
Next was acrobatics performance by Jerry and Aggrey who came all the way from Ghana to grace the occasion with good music from cashmoe(the hottest talent in Italy now).
There were other performances by Sanahene,Zaggidi,Yaw Roger,Tuc and Bull dozer who entertained the crowd.
During the talent act,the girls exhibited their creativity,innovation and stage craft in various acts.The next round was the traditional wear with the girls elegantly dressed in their beautiful made kaba and dancing to the tune of higlife.Like the mc Kofi Osei Bonsu said,highlife being the national dance,this contest will not be complete without our gallant girls exhibiting their hi-life skills and truely they did not disappoint.
During the question and answer time,Kofi Osei Bonsu asked the girls the same question and the question was what they think of U.S President-elect, Barack Obama, making history as the first African-American to win US election.
Some answered that his election will open up doors for them and that if Obama can reach this height then the sky is the limit for them if they believed in themselves ,others said that it buries any racial divisions and make Africa a leading contender in world affairs.
All the contestants received consolation prizes but there were other special prizes which went to Antonette Ama Aggrey of Verona as Miss Popularity, Bernice Ama Sakyia of Modena as Miss Eloquent, Gifty Ofosua Boakye of Pordenone as Miss Photogenic and Linda Pecku Boateng of Lecco as Miss Elegant.
At the end of the night, Cindy Osei Kuffour, a native of Kwahu Obomeng in the Eastern Region of Ghana, was crowned Miss Ghana Italy 2008 with a total score of 174 points,second place went to Linda Boateng of Lecco with a total score of 170 and third place went to Rachael Osei Baah with a total score of 164 points.
