Staff and visitors at the United States Embassy in Abuja were on Monday thrown into pandemonium as sound of gun shots ripped through the air around the Embassy of the United States of America, located on Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive Central District Area,

Abuja. A statement issued by the embassy and made available to huhuonline.com, said it 'believed there were shots fired" and that police arrested two people afterward. However, no one was reported killed or injured.

It should be recalled that security has remained a concern in Nigeria as a dreaded Islamist sect; Boko Haram continues a wave of killings.

  A suicide car bombing by the sect in August attacked the United Nations' headquarters in Abuja - which sits on the same road as the embassy.
