NORTHERN GOVS HAIL NEW PDP NWC

MINNA-The Northern States Governors' Forum, NSGF, has hailed the peaceful conduct of the election of members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Working Committee,NWC.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr.  Babangida Aliyu, applauded the consensus arrangement under which the new National Working Committee emerged, saying it was an indication that the party was intact and more united in its determination to ensure the survival of the nation's democracy.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, Gov. Aliyu challenged the new leadership of the party to 'be fair to all' and make equity and justice its cardinal principles so as to avoid intra-party crisis that can derail the gains so far recorded.

He said: 'Saturday's convention has shown that our party is intact, our members united and our determination to ensure the survival of democracy in our country is stronger than ever.'

He  thanked PDP supporters across the country for their continued belief in the party and its leadership, urging them to continue to keep faith with the party.

The forum assured Nigerians of President Goodluck Jonathan's administration's commitment to the enthronement of genuine democracy and good governance for the benefit of all.

The statement called on Nigerians to support the PDP-led Federal Government in the overall interest of the development of the country.
