REVENUE ALLOCATION: IGBO GROUP FAULTS AGITATION BY NORTHERN LEADERS

The Igbo Rennaissance Group, IRG, has faulted the agitation by the North for increase in its revenue allocation from the federation account, saying that there were numerous programmes for which the 19 Northern states were getting money to the detriment of their southern counterparts.

Chairman of the the IRG, Chief Alphonsus Eze, who spoke on the issue, told Vanguard that the former Minister of Education, Senator Jibril Aminu, created the Normadic Education Commission simply to enable the North get more than others just like President Goodluck Jonathan's administration was constructing secondary schools for alamajiris /beggars when secondary school education should be within the purview of states and local governments.

According to IRG, alamajiri programme was inititated by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, when he was governor of Kaduna State, and later made a Federal Government programme.
