Governor Ahmed Named Governor of The Year
Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has beat compatriots Gabriel Suswam of Benue State and Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State to the Excellence Recognition Award for Best Governor of the Year (North) for his “exemplary contribution to economic development” since assuming office. The award, organised by Global Excellence Magazine, comes less than a week after his election was upheld by the Supreme Court.
Accepting the award during the installation ceremony in Lagos, Governor Ahmed, represented by Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Amuda Kannike, restated his focus on the resourcefulness of Kwara and its people in driving governance, and invited Nigerians to partner the state and share in its prosperity.
He dedicated the award to “the good people of the state” and thanked the organisers for deeming him worthy of the crown.
“The award will re-energise my efforts to deliver good governance in Kwara State through the programme of shared prosperity,” he promised. “This is a programme that creates spaces for all in the state to share in the dividends of governance and benefit from the opportunities for economic empowerment offered by the policy.”
