PDP NWC SHOULD DEFINE FAYOSE’S STATUS NOW – EKITI PDP

By Ekiti News

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party

(PDP) has been told to make public the status of former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose in the party, saying; “Fayose's violent activities in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government area of Ekiti State during and after the last Saturday Ward Congress should concern all well-meaning leaders of the PDP in Ekiti and national level.”

Chairman and leaders of the PDP in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, who made this call in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today, accused the former governor of unleashing violence on PDP members from the local government “when he led over 30 thugs to the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.”

They include the party Chairman, Hon. Adebayo Gbenga, Chief Femi Balogun, Evang Gbenga Adekunle, Hon Babade Ige, Hon Martins Ibikunle, Chief Taiwo Olatubosun, Hon. Ademola Salami and Hon Ganiyu Tijani.

They said the thugs attacked and wounded former Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babade Ige (Afao), Sunday John (Afao), Hon. Tope Apanisile (Iworoko), Hon. Ganiyu Sunday-Tijani (Iyin), Dauda Ajayi

(Awo) and Hon. Owolabi Babatunde (Igbemo).
The party leaders said it was wrong for Fayose to be taking part in the party activities, especially party congresses when he has not been fully admitted back into the party, adding that; “The NWC should come out with clear position as to the status of Fayose's membership of the PDP.”

“We are constrained to bring to the attention of our great party, the PDP and the entire public the activities of former governor Ayo Fayose in relation to the Ward Congress in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government area of Ekiti State.

“Fayose, in his desperate bid to impose Labour Party (LP) members, who just joined the PDP as members of the Ward Executives in Afao, Iyin Ward A, Iropora/Eyio/Esure and Awo, he (Fayose) alongside Dr. TKO Aluko led thugs to the State Party Secretariat on Monday to unleash terror on members of the party.

“He is using a member of the Transition Committee; Mrs. Bola Oloyede to cause confusion on the results of already conducted Ward Congresses in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, with his attempt to impose his cronies from the LP.

“This new regime of violence, which Fayose is bringing back to the PDP in his attempt to hijack the party machineries, especially in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, his Local Government of origin, portends grave danger for our party, which is seen before now by Ekiti people as a party of peace-loving people.

“We therefore wish to state categorically that as at today, former Governor Ayodele Fayose is not a member of our party since his return has not been sanctioned by the NWC, and as such, he should desist from interfering from the party activities and programmmes.
