United Nations, Liberian Government partners and Civil Society to discuss International Women's Day 2012 at UNMIL' Press Briefing

MONROVIA, Liberia, March 6, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- UNMIL will host its weekly press briefing at its Pan African Plaza Headquarters in Sinkor at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 7 March 2012. *

The press briefing will focus on the upcoming 8 March International Women's Day which has as theme “Connect, Reconcile and Empower Women and Girls for the Future.”

The following persons will address journalists:

    Liberia's Minister of Gender and Development, Ms. Julia Duncan Cassell will be present and will speak on the Government of Liberia's programme for the day including the strategies in place to for advancing the rights and empowerment of young girls and women in Liberia.

    Ms. Miatta Darwolor of Women's Solidarity Incorporated and Ms. Julie Endee, from Liberian Crusaders for Peace will present their organizations' platforms and the work they are doing with regards to women's empowerment.

    Ms. Stella Twea, UNFPA Gender Adviser will present the work of the United Nations family with regards working with national and international partners in strengthening the development opportunities for women and young girls in Liberia.

    UNMIL Spokesperson Yasmina Bouziane will moderate the press conference.
