EDO PDP PRIMARIES: OSUNBOR CONGRATULATES AIRHIAVBERE

By NBF News

FORMER Edo State governor and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial aspirant in the just-concluded primaries in Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, yesterday, congratulated General Charles Airhiavbere(rtd), who emerged winner.

In a statement in Benin, Osunbor said: 'I embarked on the race for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in response to the clamour by the good people of Edo State for me to come back to continue with my good work which they missed since my exit in 2008.

'At great pain and inconvenience, I responded to the popular call by civil servants, teachers, students, market women, ordinary members of PDP and indeed many other people across the state for me to run as this represents the best chance of PDP to reclaim the governorship of Edo State which we were robbed of in 2008. For me, running has been a matter of duty.

'I ran on account of my good name and record of performance, expecting that my party would yield to the popular demand of the people. Today, Edo PDP leaders have taken a different decision and the ticket has been handed to someone else.

'I congratulate the winner, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, and hope that with him PDP will achieve their objective in the forthcoming governorship election. My sincere thanks to the people of Edo State for appreciating my achievements during the short period I was in office as Governor.'
