James Iroha a.k.a Gringory Akabogu, Nigeria`s foremost comedian and cast in the now rested soap opera New Masquerade, has passed at 69. His son, Akwari James Iroha, confirmed his passing on his face book posting

The Acting President of the Actors' Guild of Nigeria, Segun Arinze, also confirmed the death through a terse statement which read: "I just received the sad news now that Veteran Actor James Iroha, aka Gringory, of the popular Masquerade tv comedy series is dead!

"I spoke with the Son Uche who confirmed the story. He was aged 69 years. We at AGN commiserate with his family May God Grant him eternal rest."

  Gringory had played a prominent role in the Masquerade, later renamed New Masquerade, which was immensely popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
