Invitation to attend the EU NAVFOR Force Headquarters Flag Ship ESPS PATIŇO in Mombasa – 15 March 2012

MOMBASA, Kenya, February 22, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Media are invited to attend the EUNAVFOR Force Headquarters (FHQ) Media Day in Mombasa on 15 March 2012, held on board the Spanish warship ESPS PATIŇO.

During this event the EUNAVFOR Force Commander, Rear Admiral Jorge Manso (Spanish Navy), will brief on EUNAVFOR operations and answer questions from members of the media.

Aim

The aim of this Media Day is for members of the media to receive an update briefing on EUNAVFOR counter piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa.

Programme

0730 Media gather at Mombasa Port entrance and proceed to ESPS PATIŇO.

0800 - 0830 Media proceed on board, set up equipment and receive initial brief.

0830 - 0945 Force Commander Briefing and Questions.

0945 - 1000 Refreshments.

1000 - 1100 Ship's visit.

1100 - 1130 Final Media interviews and photos as required.

1130 - 1215 Light lunch with Force Headquarters Staff.

By 1230 Media depart ship and Mombasa Port.

Travel and Accommodation

Visa requirements and all travel and accommodation arrangements are the responsibility of the individuals wishing to attend.

Administration

Media will be required to be at Mombasa port entrance area by 0730 hours on Thursday 15 March 2012 (Kenyan time).

You are requested to provide, in your acceptance of this invitation, a scan of your front page passport details, with your full name, nationality, date of birth, passport number and expiry date and your employer's details. This info is critical to gain entry through Mombasa port security.

Your employment details should include type of media (media agency, broadcasting company – TV, Radio etc) and your mobile/cell phone number to allow us to contact you. You are to be in possession of your passport/photographic ID on arrival at the port.

Port security authorities will prepare entrance passes into the port area. Members of the media who wish to conduct a telephone interview are to inform the Press Day Officer no later than 1200 (London time), Friday 9 March 2012.

Safety and Security

You will be given a full safety brief by the Ship's staff onboard. The Port authorities reserve the right to deny access to any individual that they feel compromises security.

Clothing

It is advised to wear flat, sturdy footwear, bring or wear a long sleeve shirt and long trousers. You are advised to bring a water bottle although refreshments will be available on board the ship throughout the event.

Filming/Photography

You will be briefed by the Staff of ESPS PATIŇO as to any filming restrictions while on board.
