PORT HARCOURT- PRESIDENT of the Rivers State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Apostle Zilly Agrey, has called on members of the National Assembly to convene regional conference in their regions to determine the opinions of their people on the way forward for the country.

Apostle Agrey, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said he was opposed to call for the convocation of a sovereign national conference.

He said since there was a government in place, it would be improper to talk of conveningĀ  a sovereign national conference, adding that members of the National Assembly could hold regional conferences in their various regions and then come to the centre to harmonise the various views on the way forward.

He said the various state governments should fund the regional conferences and enjoined governments at all level in the country to create employment opportunities for the people.

He noted that it was a step towards tackling challenges in the region.

'When people are gainfully employed, there will be no idle youths for violence. Job creation is one of the first answers to our problems,' he said.
