… Says President rules with fear of God


ABUJA, February 10, (THEWILL) - President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has for the umpteenth time encouraged Nigerians across board to support the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan in order to build a united and progressive nation.


Senator Mark maintained that the present administration is ruling with the fear of God adding that the National Assembly on its part will not relent at ensuring that Federal Government succeeds on all its programmes.


The Senate President made the appeal while addressing participants at the maiden edition of Pa Aikwuta Mark (his late father) memorial Pro-am Golf tournament in Otukpo Golf and Country Club, St. Mark, Akpegede, Otukpo, Benue State yesterday.


He said the mandate of the subsidy reinvestment (SURE) programme of Mr. President is to specifically improve the quality of life of Nigerians in line with the Transformation agenda.


According to Mark, “The Goodluck Jonathan’s administration is determined to make sure that every Nigerian is carried along in this Transformation agenda.


“We in the National Assembly are keen at ensuring the success of this government; we are praying and working hard to make sure that we succeed.


“This government is very serious and I believe Mr. President is ruling the nation with the fear of God. He cannot lead us astray.”


On the Pa Aikwuta Mark memorial Golf tournament, he noted that his late father was an embodiment of humility, discipline and above all a go-getter who lived a life of wisdom saying the memorial tournament was the best way to honour and immortalize him.


Senator Mark stressed that he was humbled at the site of important personalities who graced the event and commended every participant for their supports and love for the family while promising that the memorial tournament would be an annual event to empower youths across the nation.


In their separate remarks, the Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, Ministers of Interior, Niger Delta and Aviation, Comrade Abba Moro, Elder Godsday Orubebe and Princess Stella Oduah eulogized the President of the Senate gesture at empowering youths saying he has created an uncommon platform for economic development for his constituents and Nigerians at large.


A Ghanaian golfer Amos Korblah won the N5million naira prized tournament for the men professionals while Blessing Obaje won in the women category.


The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark won the Veteran Category, Men while his wife Helen triumphed in the women Veteran category.
