The Rivers Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, says it can no longer continue to keep quiet over the embarrassing and criminal activities of the State Transport Management Agency, (TIMA-RIV).

Angered by what it called unfortunate scenario created by TIMA-RIV, the ACN wants the immediate disbandment of the agency by the Rivers State government, describing it as illegal and an affront to the nation's 1999 constitution as amended.

In a press statement issued and signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Jerry Needam, the ACN said if within 21 days the State government does not withdraw TIMA-RIV officials from the roads in the State it would head for the court.

According to Jerry Needam, any law made that contradicts or that is not consistent with the provisions of the 1999 constitution is illegal and must not be allowed to be.

For its illegality and lawless operations, the ACN spokesman, Jerry Needam said TIMA-RIV can't be, or be permitted to impose and collect fines, and detain persons and vehicles until the raison d'etre for the illegality is proved in court.
