He's Changed His Attitude Towards Me

By Daily Graphic

Dear Auntie Betty, I am 15 and in JSS Two. I was living with my uncle at Wenchi. He married a new wife and since then his attitude towards me has changed.

He now beats me up for the slightest offence and tells me my parents are witches. He even told me that my education will be in vain.

I am now in the Upper East Region attending school but I would have to return to Wenchi during vacation. I dread my stay with my uncle because of the way he's been treating me of late.

Atinga,

Gowrie-Bongo.

Dear Atinga, If you can find out from your uncle if you have done something wrong, it will be best because that can help you to put a stop to it.

However, if you can't ask him, then inform your mother about his recent attitude to you. There is no need to go into all the details of the things he has said. I believe your mum, being older, will know how to help resolve the problem.

If it does not stop, make her aware of it and find out from her if you can move out of the house. If that is not possible, then just be patient, do all that is required of you at home and on time so that he will not have anything to grumble about.

It will also be good if you make friends with your uncle's wife. Be nice to her and go out of your way to do things to please her. Once she's on your side, I'm sure things will be fine at home for you. All the best.
