By Emmanuel Ajibulu

His Excellency Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, and his counterpart, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State were both present at the burial ceremony of Madam Victoria Onosegbuhan Akinlaja (JP), wife of Hon. Joseph Akinlaja (a federal lawmaker). The event took place on Friday 27thof Jan. 2012 in Ondo town, after a well attended church service which took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Ondo Province II, Power Sanctuary.

Other prominent attendees included Chief Dan Iwuayanwu National Chairman of Labour Party, Senators and Federal House of representatives members, former NUPENG Secretary-General, Frank Kokori, State Commissioners, Ondo State Law makers and Local Govt Chairmen, representative of Oba of Ondo Kingdom and top shots of various unions in Nigeria like NARTO, NUPENG, PTD, PENGASSAN etc.

Hon. Akinlaja described his late wife as jewel of inestimable value. In an emotion laden voice, he said: ''Vic, after 35 years of our romantic relationship, you left me, the family and all other acquaintances of yours, too early. But what can I do? I cannot query God. The author and finisher of our destiny. The one who knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end. He alone knows the best thing to do. He knows why He took you away now that I have just been successfully elected a member of the Federal House of Representatives after 4 attempts and always with His and your support...''

''Here lies the lifeless body of my wife Victoria Onosegbuhan, a virtuous, honest, visionary and courageous woman. My own jewel of inestimable value. How I wish you can rise now and speak to me. The last day I saw you alive was on Friday 18th November, 2011 at about 10:30pm by your Bed at Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos. You shook my hand several times when it was time for me to leave you and go home. You said we should all shout Halleluyah which we did. About 4:00 pm the following day (Saturday) you had gone to eternity. Sleep on my love.''
