KANO, January 21, (THEWILL) - The death toll from Friday’s coordinated bomb blasts by the Boko Haram in Kano has risen to150, according to unofficial counts, while sources at both the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital and the Red Cross say they are unable to confirm the exact number of dead bodies retrieved from the streets and the sites were the attackers struck. The sources however maintained that the numbers are high but that family members have been claiming dead bodies for immediate burial according to Islamic tradition.

One hospital official told THEWILL correspondent in Kano that “We don’t want to give figures would not be able to defend as par number of dead victims, give us some time to verify all these so as to be at the safer side to give figures.”

However, hospital official confirmed that 33 persons sustained injuries.

The personnel also disclosed that those with minor injuries were been discharged, while some others were being transferred to private hospitals.
