ABEOKUTA - Gunmen  numbering about ten, weekend,  invaded a recreation centre in Kuto, Abeokuta in Ogun State, destroying property worth  millions of naira and  injuring one of  the managers of the club.

Vanguard  gathered that, there has been controversy  between the Federal Government and the state government over the ownership of the land, which was leased to a  former  Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Mr. Wale Ajayi.

During the invasion  of the centre  formerly known as amusement park, now Thrillers park, Vanguard gathered that fun seekers scampered for safety as the invaders allegedly chased them  away before destroying property.

Narrating  his ordeal, Ajayi claimed that, though, no life was lost, one of the managers  sustained injury  while running for his life.

He, however, claimed that, the damaged property was estimated to be worth over N10 million.

Vanguard also  learnt that, the federal government through the then Federal Ministry of Environment, Housing   and Urban Development, had  taken over the property since 2006 as part of its  road extension and has  reportedly leased the property to the former Chairman till  June 2012.
