NNOKWA AGOG AS ANAMBRA COMMUNITY GEARS UP FOR IGWE'S CORONATION

All is now set for the coronation of a new monarch for Nnokwa in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State. The event takes place on December 30, 2011. Already, the community has selected a prominent industrialist and acclaimed philanthropist, Emmanuel Ezenwe Ajamma, as the new king.

The Igwe-elect, who is the Managing Director of Inland Doors Limited, is presently doing everything possible to ensure that the coronation becomes a success. When Daily Sun visited Nnokwa to assess preparations for the event, it was discovered that construction work had been completed at the Ime Obi Odenigbo Palace of the new Igwe while other structures were already completed and painted to give the palace a befitting look.

According to the programme of the day, the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, will be the Distinguished Guest of Honour while the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Council and Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, His Majesty, Igwe Alfred Achebe, will be the Special Guest of Honour.

The programme also stated that the Chairman Transition Committee for Idemili South Local Government, Hon. Sir Eugene Ezekwe, will be the Guest of Honour while the Traditional Ruler of Nnokwa, HRM Igwe Dr. J.O. Ojukwu will be the royal Father of the day.

According to the Chairman of the Coronation Committee Mr. Alloy Ezeako, coronation activities would last up to 5.25pm on Friday December 30.

He said on January 1, 2012, the Igwe and His cabinet would go for a thanksgiving Service at St. Mary Catholic Church, Nnokwa and St. Stephen Anglican Church, Nnokwa on Sunday January 8, 2012.

Most of the prominent indigenes of Nnokwa living outside the community are already back in the town in preparation for the coronation, which is expected to be attended by people within and outside the community.

Meanwhile, the entire town is wearing a new look. Many places are also being decorated by the people as part of the preparations for the event.

When crowned, Igwe E.E. Ajamma will be the Igwe Oranye IV of Nnokwa and will replace the former traditional ruler who had his last Ofala about a year ago.
