SAN FRANCISCO, December 22, (THEWILL) – In two separate judgements, the Court of Appeal Enugu has annulled the elections of Senator Andy Uba (PDP, Anambra South) and Hon. Uche Ekwenife (APGA, Anambra) into the Senate and House of Representatives respectively.

The 5-member panel of justices led by Justice Helen Moronkeji Ogunwumiju ordered both Uba and Ekwenife to vacate their seats immediately while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was mandated to conduct fresh elections within 90 days.

The Appeal Court held that the elections were marred by irregularities in Aguata constituency in the Anambra South Senatorial District election siding with the petitioner, Mr. Chuma Nzeribe (APGA) who had sought for a cancellation of the poll.

Nzeribe had earlier lost at the Anambra election petitions tribunal where his petition was dismissed for lacking in merit. He had claimed that PDP fielded multiple candidates for the poll.

The justices also agreed that the election held in Aniocha Local Government Area in the House of Representatives election was also marred by irregularities and fraud.
