Old School Mates Applauds Airtel’s Chairman, Oba Otudeko

Lagos Nigeria; December 18, 2011: The old boys of Olivet Baptist High School, Olivet Heights, Ibadan, Oyo State, have honoured Chairman of Airtel Networks Limited, Dr. Oba Otudeko (CFR) for his significant contributions towards the growth of corporate Nigeria and leading role in the development of the economy.

At an event put together by the National Old Students' Association of the school at the Sheraton in Lagos, last Sunday, Otudeko was recognized for playing a key role in the transformation of corporate Nigeria and also for his support towards the development of the school and the Nigerian educational sector.

At a citation read in his honour, the alumni commended him for his outstanding contributions, urging the younger generation to emulate his fine example and self-sacrificing spirit.

Also, at the occasion, which was chaired by Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe, other distinguished Olivet Baptist High School old students were honoured. Those honoured were Chief L. Adebayo Akintola, Past National President of Olivet Baptist High School; Dr. Benjamin Abimbola Adigun, also Past National President, Olivet Baptist High School and Dr. Ayo Ojo, the Lisa of Ilara-Mokin.

Others included: Otunba Tunji Durosimnmi-Etti, Chairman, Swift Oil Limited and Hon. Justice Oluremi Jacobs, Retired Chief Judge of Ogun State.

All the honorees were commended for being notable ambassadors of the school and also for lifting the image of their Alma Mata.

Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, Dr. Otudeko thanked the Association for the honour bestowed on them, pledging that they will continue to contribute their humble quota to the service of humanity.

Otudeko, a 1960 graduate of Olivet Baptist High school, has distinguished himself as an astute businessman, a public servant and a philanthropist of repute. He sits atop many successful businesses in the financial, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors and currently is the chairman of leading telecommunications operator, Airtel Networks Limited.

Professor Oluwafeyisola Adegoke was the guest speaker at the event which was attended by several A-list personalities including Chief Dr. Michael Ade-Ojo, Chairman of Elizade; Director, Corporate Communications and CSR, Airtel Networks Limited, Emeka Oparah and Director, Legal Services, Airtel Networks Limited, Mrs. Ibirobo Adekola.
