NAT'L ASSEMBLY URGED TO PROBE PHCN BEFORE ITS PRIVATISATION

NATIONAL Coordinator of Initiative for Better Power Supply, Don Emmanuel Onose, has called on the National Assembly to probe the management of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, before it is privatized.

Onose, in a statement, yesterday, said other government parastatals and companies that were in the past privatized were not doing well.

He said it would be disservice to if PHCN followed the same path.

'The process of privatization of the power sector should be transparent. PHCN is the only government owned company which both the rich and the poor benefit from.

'If the National Assembly does not probe PHCN before its privatization, then Nigerians would still not get the best from the power sector.

'There should be proper understanding between government and investors who want to purchase company.'
