TOKYO, Japan, December 7, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- On Wednesday, December 7 (Tuesday, December 6 local time), during the COP17 side event hosted by the Government of Japan in Durban, South Africa, Japan announced a draft outline of the "African Green Growth Strategy: Toward Low-Carbon Growth and Climate Resilient development."

The draft outline was created following the agreement reached this May at the TICAD IV Ministerial Follow-up Meeting held in Dakar, Senegal, between Japan and African nations to formulate a strategy for low-carbon growth of Africa, incorporating views exchanged in previous meetings with African countries and TICAD co-hosts.

Japan will present an interim report on African Green Growth Strategy at the upcoming TICAD IV Ministerial Follow-up Meeting in 2012, and plans to present a final report of it on the occasion of the World Bank-IMF General Assembly to be held in autumn 2012 in Tokyo.
