BAYELSA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO SCREEN NEW COMMISSIONER

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly is set to screen the commissioner nominee, Mr Fitzegerald Biuks Olorogun, whose name was sent to the House by Governor Timipre Sylva.

One of Sylva's trusted commissioners, Bekiakpo Etifa had resigned his appointment recently as commissioner for Youth, Conflict Resolution and Employment Generation.

Etifa, who disclosed that he was resigning to concentrate on his family and business, is a stakeholder in Bayelsa West and he had since joined the campaign train of Mr Seriake Henry Dickson, who was elected in the controversial November 19 governorship primary.

Sylva, in accepting the resignation of Etifa, thanked him for his services and advised him to hand over all government property in his possession as the permanent secretary in the ministry.

Sources said as Sylva sets to confront the PDP head long over the candidacy of the party, Olorogun, who is a well respected stakeholder was named to replace Etifa since both of them are from Bayelsa West.

Being a Special Adviser before his new appointment, he is expected to shore up support for Sylva in his quest to win the February 2012 elections.

Mr Olorogun studied Law at the University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He did the mandatory national youth service at the Ministry of Justice in the then Bendel State in 1982. Thereafter, he went into private legal practice and was appointed Special Adviser to the then Bayelsa State governor, (Dr. Goodluck Jonathan) on Legal Matters.
