ADAMAWA SPEAKER, DEPUTY IMPEACHED

The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Sadiq and his Deputy, Mrs. Wale Fwa were yesterday impeached for an alleged incompetence and lack of administrative acumen to run the affairs of the House.

The impeachment was sequel to a vote of no confidence signed by 22 out of the 25 members of the Assembly and subsequently presented on the floor of the House by Jerry Kumdusi, representing Gombi state constituency.

Subsequently, the House unanimously elected Alhaji Umaru Ahmed Fintiri and Kwamoti Laori as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

The impeachment occurred barely six weeks to the governorship election in the state coming up on January 14.

The new Speaker, Alhaji Umaru Ahmed Fintiri represents Madagali constituency and has been a three-term member of the assembly.

While speaking to Journalists after his election, the new speaker, Alhaji Umaru Ahmed Fintiri promised to carry everybody along in the running of the affairs of the People's Democratic Party dominated Adamawa State House of Assembly.

Observers in the political scene in the state concluded that there was much to it than meet the eye, given the fact that the state has barely six weeks to face the governorship election.

Similarly, the state is presently awaiting the supreme Court verdict instituted by Brigadier Mohammed Buba Marwa Former Lagos State Military Administrator and the governorship candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the January 14, 2012 in Adamawa State which involved Governor Murtala Nyako and four other serving governors in the country.
